Teacher Stories

Ronnie Carew

“Teachers have to get to students. Not just talk to them, but get to them. Because they're our future.”

After 25 years as a teacher in the Nova Scotia school system, Ronnie Carew has seen it all. From kids in the gym and classroom to a busy administration office, Ronnie knows just how much education has changed in Nova Scotia. “Teachers play a really diverse role now. They’re not just at the front of the classroom—they’re organizing breakfast programs, dealing with social issues, mental issues, even justice issues. It’s a lot.” And more than ever, Ronnie believes teachers need the right support in the classroom and outside it.
