Teacher Stories

Paul Syme

Annapolis Valley

“School reflects our society and we need to think about the education system more holistically. I think we can do it.”

Paul Syme believes his commitment to connecting with his students fundamentally contributes to their growth as people. “I want to go into school every day knowing that I’m making the lives of the students better. If I’m not here to make their lives better, then why am I here? I had teachers who held that bar for themselves, and every day I try to do what they did.” It is no secret that Paul feeds off of this creative energy he aims to cultivate, and he knows that a classroom environment that is built on collaboration and engagement prepares his students to step into their role as the next generation of Nova Scotians.
