NSTU makes adjustments to work-to-rule directives

Feb 02, 2017

Earlier today the NSTU Provincial Executive made a handful of changes to work-to-rule directives to better meet the educational needs of students and teachers.

Teachers can now supervise out-of-province trips organized prior to the start of WTR that have signed contracts involving money. All Co-op and O2 courses and programs can proceed as normal during instructional hours. Administrators, school guidance counsellors and registrars can also use PowerSchool to support course changes and transfers and to register students for this year.

“These changes were time sensitive and needed to be evaluated prior to next week’s vote,” says NSTU President Liette Doucet. “We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of students and parents as we take this stand. These changes will allow us to meet the educational needs of students while highlighting how teachers go above and beyond in the classroom on a daily basis.”
